Oasis, Coldplay, U2 set for giant 02 Arena gigs this summer?

Giant venue are targeting big names for London shows

Oasis could be set to play several giant gigs in London this summer.

The band, who are expected to release their seventh studio album this spring, are apparently in talks with London venue the O2 Arena.

According to the London Paper, the venue are speaking to the band’s management about a multiple date residency at the former Millennium Dome like those undertaken last year by Prince and Take That.

David Campbell, European Chief Executive of the venue’s promoters AEG, said Oasis were among his “dream bookings” with the O2 Arena also targeting the likes of Coldplay and U2 for shows during 2008.

Meanwhile the O2 Arena[/a] will host the Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig, which sees Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Klaxons, The Cribs and this year’s Godlike Geniuses Manic Street Preachers[/a] sharing the bill on February 28 just after this year’s awards ceremony.
