Original Oasis guitarist Bonehead joins Liam Gallagher and Roger Daltrey’s ‘TFI Friday’ supergroup

Gallagher and Bonehead will perform together on TFI Friday’s 20th Anniversary show

Founding Oasis member Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has joined the new supergroup being assembled for the 20th Anniversary special of cult TV show TFI Friday.

TFI Friday will return for a one-off live special at 9pm on Friday (June 12), hosted by Chris Evans. A TFI spokesman recently confirmed to NME that Liam Gallagher and Roger Daltrey will perform together as part of a supergroup featuring The Lightning Seeds’ Ian Broudie and former Oasis drummer (and Ringo Starr’s son) Zak Starkey. Now, The Mirror are reporting that Bonehead, who left the Britpop band in 1999, will also appear on the show.

It’s not the first time that Liam Gallagher and Bonehead have hit the headlines this year, as the pair made a surprise visit to the Oasis exhibition in Shoreditch, London, in April. Bonehead also revealed the pair went out drinking together earlier that month, after Liam set rumours of an Oasis reunion alight by slowly spelling out the name of the band, letter by letter, on his Twitter account during the pair’s meeting.

The as-yet-unnamed supergroup will perform on the show alongside Blur, Rudimental and Years & Years.

A full Oasis reunion looks unlikely however, as a long-standing feud between Noel Gallagher and host Chris Evans means the pair have not spoken in over two decades. In 2011, Evans explained:”“We opened up a TFI Friday [episode] with a defibrillator trying to resuscitate [‘Definitely Maybe’] and give the album some life. He saw the joke and has never spoken to me since.”

Alongside the music line-up, TFI Friday will also include Kenneth Branagh, Nick Grimshaw, Tom Daley and Amanda Seyfried as guests.
