The band are furious over the way their recent performance on the show was edited...
NOEL GALLAGHER has vowed OASIS will never perform on ‘TOP OF THE POPS’ again after a row over the way his performance was edited.
Last month (April 11), Oasis recorded seven songs for the show – current single ‘The Hindu Times’, ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’, ‘Force Of Nature’, ‘Songbird’, ‘Acquiesce’, ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and a cover of The Who’s ‘My Generation’.
The show have been broadcasting ‘The Hindu Times’, with the remaining songs set to be broadcast at a later date.
However, Noel has told this morning’s The Sun newspaper (May 2) that he was unhappy with way ‘The Hindu Times’ was edited, and that Oasis will never go to the studio again.
He said: “They cut six seconds from one song. They have been doing it for 35 years and they still can’t get it right. I know they are used to doing shit pop groups but if they can’t hack it then why bother? We will never play ‘Top Of The Pops’ again.”
A spokesperson for the show responded by saying they have “no hard feelings” towards the band. She commented: “They already had their own sound guy at the studios. So if Noel doesn’t like any of the sound it is his own fault – he chose to mix it.
“But there are no hard feelings on our side – we are even showing ‘The Hindu Times’ again this Friday. I’m sure once it has calmed down they will come back. They are only one band and need us more than we need them.”
