Odd Future to play together following rumoured break-up

OFWGKTA will play Tyler, The Creator's 'Camp Flog Gnaw Festival' in November

Odd Future are set to play Tyler, The Creator’s upcoming festival, undermining rumours from earlier in the year that they have disbanded.

Camp Flog Gnaw Festival is scheduled to take place on November 14 in Los Angeles, with a lineup including A$AP Rocky, Snoop Dogg and Danny Brown. LA hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) is also listed on the bill.

It is unclear whether the whole group will be there, but a representative speaking to Pitchfork said they will play a “full set”.

The news follows the announcement that The Internet, an OFWGKTA offshoot, will play US and Europe dates throughout the autumn – but there is no clash with Tyler’s LA festival on November 14.

Earlier in the year, Tyler, The Creator ignited rumours of the band’s demise by tweeting, “although its no more, those 7 letters are forever”. It was thought that he was referring to the ‘OFWGKTA’ initials.

Responding to speculation a day later, Tyler tweeted: “All I was doing was looking at old photos with friends and thinking about how time flies, crazy how one tweet can stir so much”. Later, however, Earl Sweatshirt said Tyler had been “solidifying the obvious”.

Reacting to this news, Matt Martians of The Internet told All Hip Hop: “It needed to be said, because I think it’s important for our progress, and other people in Odd Future’s progress, to shed that name. It’s a badge. It’s a great thing. Everything has to move on. Everything has to have closure.”

He added: “I think what rose from that is what really matters. A lot of great careers spawned from that, and a lot of great careers will continue to spawn from that.”
