Odd Future leader Tyler, The Creator has once again made comments regarding the Columbine High School Massacre, saying that if a similar incident happens, the blame will be on his head.
The rapper and producer compared himself to Marilyn Manson, whose controversial lyrics were blamed by some for the killers’ actions in the 1999 high school shooting. When asked about his song ‘Radicals’, Tyler said the track could either “make me an icon” or “get me in a lot of fucking heat with a lot of parents”. He continued:
If Columbine is reenacted or some shit, that’s gonna be on my fucking head. Yeah, it’ll be my fault, just like it was Em‘s and Marilyn‘s and fucking Slipknot‘s and all them motherfuckers.
Tyler made the comments to Respect. magazine, in which he also explained that his music was his version of therapy. “All my songs are me reflecting and talking to myself – the dude in my head, who is the doctor dude you hear on some songs,” he said.
Earlier this year, Tyler got into hot water for saying that the two teenagers responsible for the Columbine massacre – in which 13 were killed – were “probably really cool people”.
Tyler, The Creator is about to start work on this third album, ‘Wolf’. The follow up to 2010’s ‘Goblin’ is set for a May, 2012 release.
