A memorial service has been held in NEW YORK for rapper OL’ DIRTY BASTARD.
Fans, friends and family congregated at the St James Presbyterian Church to remember the Wu-Tang Clan rapper, who collapsed and died in a recording studio last weekend (November 13).
Shortly before his death he had complained of pains in his chest.
At the service ODB’s father William Jones said his son “loved life”, while Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash, a friend and business associate of the rapper, said that he was at about to return to the top of his profession.
He said: “I’m very disappointed because I know what was about to happen for him. He wasn’t getting his life together, his life was together.”
The cause of ODB’s death is still unknown, although post mortem results are expected within a week.
Ol’ Dirty Bastard – real name Russell Jones – died aged 35.
ODB will be laid to rest this evening (November 18) at the Brooklyn Christian Cultural Center.
