One Direction singer Niall Horan working on solo music with Libertines producer

Horan has been writing with pair of industry veterans

One Direction singer Niall Horan has begun writing his first songs since the group announced their hiatus in January.

Veteran songwriter Wayne Hector, who penned One Direction hits ‘Best Song Ever’, ‘Steal My Girl’ and ‘History’, says he has been writing with Horan.

Hector told The Daily Star: “We’re writing together, but Niall wants to do it for himself and not other people at the moment. We have no idea where we’ll end up.”

As well as Hector, Horan has registered a song entitled ’Don’t Give Up On Our Love’ with songwriting organisation ASCAP.

‘Don’t Give Up On Our Love’ is co-written with Jake Gosling, the songwriter best known for his work with Ed Sheeran. Gosling also produced The Libertines’ comeback album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ in 2015.

News of Horan’s new music comes in the week it was reported that his bandmate Harry Styles wants to leave Simon Cowell’s record label Syco. Styles is currently filming his acting debut, playing soldier Tommy in ‘The Dark Knight’ director Christopher Nolan’s World War II film ‘Dunkirk’ alongside Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh.

Another member of One Direction known to be making music is Liam Payne, who has been in the studio with Juicy J.

Zayn Malik, who quit One Direction in March 2015, reached No 1 in the UK and US with both his single ‘Pillowtalk’ and album ‘Mind Of Mine’.
