'After' author Anna Todd's original stories told story of university student who fell in love with Harry Styles
An author who began her career writing One Direction inspired fan fiction has signed a six-figure book deal.
Anna Todd’s (pictured right) first novel After was published this week with subsequent titles in the erotic fiction series set to follow in November, December and February through Simon & Shuster imprint Gallery Books, reports the New York Times.
Todd made her name on the free writing website Wattpad penning online fan fiction involving a university student who embarks on a relationship with a man called Harry Styles. New versions of these stories with longer sex scenes will be published over the coming months with the Harry Styles character’s name changed to Hardin Scott.
After making her name as a writer online, Todd quit her day job and began writing a chapter per day online. Paramount Pictures have already acquired the rights to the After series, no doubt keen to replicate EL James’ success with 50 Shades Of Grey. James herself made her name writing Twilight fan fiction involving Robert Pattinson.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed earlier today (October 24) that One Direction will perform at the first ever BBC Music Awards alongside Ed Sheeran and Coldplay.
