One Direction outsell rest of UK chart Top Five combined with new album

Boyband shift 145,000 copies of new album 'Midnight Memories' in just three days

One Direction are outselling Gary Barlow by three copies to one in this week’s race for the Number One in the Official Albums Chart spot.

Official Chart Company data reveals that the X Factor boyband’s latest album ‘Midnight Memories’ sold a massive 145,000 copies in its first three days on sale and looks almost certain to be Number One when the winner of this week’s chart battle is revealed on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday (December 1).

As well as comprehensively outselling Barlow’s solo album ‘Since I Saw You Last’, One Direction have also sold more copies of ‘Midnight Memories’ than the rest of the top five combined.

New entries in the Official Single Chart at today’s (November 27) midweek stage come from Calvin Harris‘s ‘Under Control’, a collaboration with Alesso and Theo Hutchcraft of Hurts. ‘Under Control’ is at Number One ahead of the next highest entry at Number Two, McFly’s ‘Love On The Radio’.
