X Factor boyband take on the Swedish DJ Avicii with his single 'Wake Me Up'
One Direction are looking to topple Avicii from the top spot in the Official UK Singles Chart this week with their new single ‘Best Song Ever’ going head to head with the EDM giant’s ‘Wake Me Up’.
The Official Chart Company reports that the boyband’s track is currently 26,000 sales behind ‘Wake Me Up’, the Danish producer’s collaboration with Aloe Blacc. However, Harry Styles and his bandmates have broken the Vevo record for the highest number of first day views for a music video on the platform with 12.3 million views in just 24 hours. The new record beats Miley Cyrus’s ‘We Can’t Stop,’ which hit 10.7 million views.
Elsewhere in the Singles Chart, the only other new entry in the Official Top 40 this week is expected to be from Nina Nesbitt with her song ‘Way In The World’. Professor Green’s collaboration with Miles Kane, ‘Are You Getting Enough?’, is currently at Number 60.
In the Albums Chart, X Factor 2012 runner up Jahmene Douglas is on course for his first Number One album with his debut effort ‘Love Never Fails’. The album features a collection of cover versions, including David Guetta and Sia’s ‘Titanium’, Beyonce‘s ‘Halo’ and a duet of Whitney Houston’s ‘The Greatest Love Of All’ with his X Factor mentor, Nicole Scherzinger.
Other new album entries this week are due from Selena Gomez (5), Hey, Hello! (12), The Rolling Stones (15) and Fuck Buttons (30).
