The 17-year-old singer takes the 2015 X Factor title while 1D bow out
Louisa Johnson was crowned the winner of The X Factor 2015 tonight.
The 17-year-old Essex-born singer beat Afrobeats duo Reggie ‘N’ Bollie to the post with her cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Forever Young’.
Upon the announcement Johnson burst into tears and told presenter Olly Murs, “I’ve imagined this day for so many years, you really have no idea how much this means to me”.
Also performing live on the final show were Adele, Coldplay and One Direction, who played their last show for at least a year, if not more. The group sung ‘Infinity’ and ‘History’, which you watch below.
The boy band, who were created on The X Factor in 2010, announced that they’d be taking a break in 2016.
Liam Payne from the band told UK magazine Attitude: “I realise now this is the time to start branching out and exploring. This won’t last forever, and there will be a point when we will break off and do our own things, but… we will work together again.”
He added: “A lot of people say to me, ‘Oh, you’ll go solo,’ but I haven’t thought about that. If the right song comes along and I think I should sing it, then I will release it as a solo artist. Otherwise, I’m happy being behind the scenes. When the others boys [in the group] go solo, I would love to write songs for them. I want to make great music that people want to listen to.”
