Just in time for Christmas...
Oreo has revealed the unlikeliest of creations – a record player that quite literally takes the biscuit.
Instead of playing stacks of precious vinyl, the new creation plays real-life Oreo cookies. From the moment that the needle is placed down, you’ll be able to hear an eclectic selection of tunes. What’s more, it changes instantly if you take a bite out of the biscuit and place it back on the player.
At present, it’s selling for $19.99 (£15) on Amazon and and comes with a selection of several original, white fudge and Oreo Thins for users to play with. Unsurprisingly it’s currently sold out, so die-hard Oreo fans will probably need to set an alert to find out when it’s next back in stock.
According to Oreo, you need only “place an Oreo cookie on the music box turntable (like you would a record), slide the record arm into place and an Oreo tune will play.”
“Take a few bites and then put your Oreo cookie back into place — as your cookie gets smaller and smaller, the songs will change.”
The video above shows the creation itself in action, although we suspect that it won’t do much to endear vinyl heads. Instead, the musical offerings sound like the loading screen of an 80s video game.
