The hiphop duo appear in their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia...

Around 2,000 fans turned up to meet OUTKAST and SLIMM CALHOUN, the first signing to their AQUEMINI label, at an instore signing at the GREENBRIAR MALL FOOTACTION, an athletic clothing store in the EAST POINT section of their hometown of ATLANTA, GEORGIA, yesterday (April 9).

A steady stream of fans queued up in the shopping mall from 3pm for the signing, which was broadcast live on local radio station Hot 97.5, and friends of the band also turned up, including fellow Atlantean Ludacris – who had opened for OutKast, along with Calhoun, at two hometown shows on Saturday and Sunday (April 7 and 8).

Also present was Goodie Mob’s Big Gipp, of the Dungeon Family, of which OutKast are also members. The hip-hop duo will go into the studio to work on a new Dungeon Family album when they wrap up their current series of college dates. Following the recording, they will head to Europe for a string of dates in June, then join Moby‘s Area:One tour in July. Another OutKast album could follow later in the year.

Yesterday’s was the second of two instore signings, the first taking place in Dallas last Tuesday (April 3), despite that night’s concert being cancelled because Big Boi was having his wisdom teeth removed. The Atlanta store was the one that Dre had worked in as a teen.

The signing session followed a busy weekend of performances and promotions for Big Boi and Andre 3000, who played two hometown shows on Saturday and Sunday (April 7 and 8) on their ‘Stank Love’, tour while also celebrating a new partnership with Smirnoff Raspberry Twist vodka.

They were supported by Calhoun, whose debut album is released in the US today (April 10).
