Is there nothing they can't do?...
OUTKAST will begin filming their film debut ‘SPEAKERBOXX’ shortly.
Work on the film, based on the band’s album ‘Speakerboxxx/The Love Album’, will begin in May.
The film, set in an undertakers, will be directed by Bryan Barber, who worked on the band’s last two videos, and says the film will be a mix of ‘The Color Purple’ and ‘Amelie’, reports Rolling Stone.
“It’s a 1930s period piece and musical,” Barber explained. “A lot of the music inspired the scenes and the scenes inspired other music.”
Big Boi and Andre 3000 will both star in the film, and are currently writing the soundtrack, which will later be released as the band’s next album. Rosaria Dawson, who starred in the controversial Nineties movie ‘Kids’, will also star.
“It’s funk music,” said Big Boi. “As long as it’s funky and the vibes keep coming we’re going to keep grinding it.”
