Metal veteran Ozzy Osbourne reveals the extent of his horrific injuries after quad bike crash...
OZZY OSBOURNE has revealed that he had to be resuscitated twice and slipped in and out of a coma for eight days following his horrific quad bike crash in December.
The metal veteran and MTV star almost lost his left arm, and had to be given the kiss of life twice by his bodyguard, Sam Rushton, after he was catapulted over the handlebars when the bike hit a pothole in the estate of his Buckinghamshire home on December 8.
The bike landed on top of him, and he suffered eight broken ribs, a punctured lung, a broken collarbone, crushed vertebra in his neck, a damaged artery and severe concussion. He now has a metal plate in his shoulder.
Speaking in today’s (January 4) Sunday Mirror newspaper he says he could have died, and slipped in and out of consciousness for more than a week.
“I could have died…I am lucky to be here today and not paralysed…I have lost at least 11 days of my life. It seems like one big nightmare. I’ll never go near one of those damn bikes again. I’ve finally grown up. The bloody thing nearly killed me,” he said.
The 55-year-old discharged himself from hospital on Christmas Eve, two weeks ahead of when the doctors wanted him to leave, and spent Christmas recovering at home with wife Sharon and children Kelly and Jack. He said he plans to stay in the UK for another four weeks, until he is fully recovered and well enough to return to their Los Angeles home.
