Ozzy Osbourne is “out of intensive care” after pneumonia fears

Get well soon, Ozzy

Ozzy Osbourne is reportedly out of intensive care after a worrying health scare, according to his wife Sharon.

The metal icon was admitted to hospital earlier this month after experiencing complications from flu and bronchitis, before being transferred to the intensive care unit when his condition deteriorated.

Although medics feared that the Black Sabbath star was at risk of developing pneumonia, Sharon has now confirmed that he’s out of intensive care after being taken off a ventilator.

In a since-deleted tweet, she wrote: “He’s breathing on his own.

“I just want to say a huge thank you to everybody who has reached out with good wishes. He’s overcome by the response.”

After deleting the tweet, she wrote: “Thank you to everyone for all your get well messages and support for Ozzy.

“We are overwhelmed and truly touched by everyone’s thoughtfulness.”

Ozzy’s latest health scare arose after a battle with flu that forced him to postpone a string of European tour dates.

“I’m completely devastated for having to postpone the European leg of my tour. It just seems that since October everything I touch has turned to shit. First the staph infection in my thumb and now coming down with the flu and bronchitis,” he said in a statement.

“I want to apologise to all of my fans who have been so loyal over the years, my band, my crew and to Judas Priest for letting you all down.”

Sharon added on Twitter: “As some of you may have heard, Ozzy was admitted to hospital following some complications from the flu. His doctors feel this is the best way to get him on a quicker road to recovery. Thanks to everyone for their concern and love.”

Meanwhile, Black Sabbath were recently honoured with a “heavy metal” bench in their hometown of Birmingham. The bench incorporates the images of the original members and is inscribed with a message that reads: “Geezer. Ozzy. Tony. Bill. Made in Birmingham 1968.”
