Singer says she is annoyed not to be nominated in the Best Album category
Paloma Faith has complained that she is not nominated in the Best Album category at tonight’s Brit Awards, suggesting that an unfair male bias is the reason behind her apparent snub.
While Faith is nominated for Best Female at this years ceremony, and will perform live, she is not up for the prestigious Best Album prize. Her 2014 album ‘A Perfect Contradiction’ was the sixth biggest selling album of last year but Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Alt-J, George Ezra and Royal Blood will contest the award.
Stating her case, Faith told the Daily Mirror: “I’m a bit miffed about the album category, but beggars can’t be choosers and I am a beggar. I don’t know why it isn’t there. I was the only female in the top 10 selling albums. All the rest were men.”
She continued: “It’s funny how everyone went absolutely nuts for about three years at how women are ruling the music industry. And then they were like, ‘We’ve given them three years so let’s suppress them for another 400’.”
The Brit Awards 2015 will take place at London’s O2 Arena tonight (February 25) and will be broadcast live on ITV. Performances on the night will come from Kanye West, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Paloma Faith, Royal Blood, George Ezra and Take That.
