Singer joins a host of musicians in calling for McElfresh to be kicked off US Warped Tour following sexual misconduct allegations
Paramore‘s Hayley Williams has joined a host of musicians in criticising the decision to allow Front Porch Step‘s frontman Jake McElfresh to continue on the Vans Warped Tour.
McElfresh was recently accused of allegations of sexual misconduct and harrassment by a number of underage girls.
A petition has been set up on Change.org calling for the singer to be removed from the line-up. It has so far gained over 13,000 followers.
In a lengthy statement on Front Porch Step’s Facebook page, McElfresh denied the allegations. He wrote: “To be associated with words like child molester, paedophile, and rapist – are disgusting and deplorable and I am neither and NEVER will be. To be lumped in to that category is just gross. I have never had any romantic and/or sexual physical interaction with an underage person nor do I have the desire.”
His comments have prompted Williams and a host of musicians on the US tour to take to Twitter to voice their anger. She wrote:
Beartooth’s Taylor Lumley, also urged fans to boycott Front Porch Step.
The Wonder Years’ Nicholas Steinborn also hit out at McElfresh’s comments on Facebook. He said:
The Vans Warped Tour, which Black Veil Brides, Asking Alexandria and Riff Raff are headlining is taking place at Florida’s Vinoy Park tonight (July 3).
