Ex-Paramore guitarist Josh Farro has said that his faith was one of the reasons he and his brother Zac left the band last year.
In an interview with Common Revolt, Josh – now working on new band Novel American – spoke openly about the brother’s issues with his old band.
Chatting on the subject of Paramore‘s ‘Careful’ lyrics, “The truth never set me free, so I did it myself”, Farro said: “Paramore claimed to be a Christian band, and then wrote those lyrics. It contradicts your faith.”
He added: “Hayley [Williams, singer] always said it was meant to be “Your truth never set me free”, but you know. If it was meant to be that, then why was it changed? It’s kind of a sorry excuse. It bummed me out, and obviously one of many reasons me and Zac walked away. We couldn’t be happier where we are right now.”
Farro went on to say that Novel American‘s “plan is to record an EP and get it out there as soon as we can.”
