Parquet Courts have announced details of their new album, ‘Wide Awake!’
The record is their sixth album, and follows 2016’s ‘Human Performance’. In a review, NME said: “Parquet Courts are at their best when singer Andrew Savage is foaming at the mouth […] The 30-year-old seems reassuringly unsettled on ‘Human Performance’.
‘Wide Awake!’, which will be released on May 18 via Rough Trade, was produced by Danger Mouse – a combination even the band say is unexpected. “I personally liked the fact that I was writing a record that indebted to punk and funk, and [Danger Mouse]’s a pop producer who’s made some very polished records,” guitarist and singer Andrew Savage said in a press release. “I liked that it didn’t make sense.”
The New York group have also shared the first track from the record, titled ‘Almost Had To Start A Fight/In And Out Of Patience’. Listen to the song below.
The tracklist for ‘Wide Awake!’ is as follows:
‘Total Football’
‘Violence’
‘Before The Water Gets Too High’

‘Freebird II’
‘Normalization’
‘Back To Earth’
‘Wide Awake’
‘NYC Observation’

Earlier this year, Parquet Courts fans started receiving mysterious postcards with art by Savage and the URL wideawake.am. The site showed a countdown timer, which was scheduled to end at 10am today (February 22).
