The singer has also confirmed tour dates throughout the summer
Patrick Wolf will provide the score for a new biopic based on the early life of English playwright and actor Noël Coward.
The film, given the working title Noël, will star Glee actor Chris Colfer, Sir Ian McKellen, Vanessa Redgrave and Jonathan Pryce. It will be directed by British director Joe Stephenson and has the full support of the Noël Coward Estate.
Wolf has previously had his music featured on the soundtracks for films The Edge Of Love and The Unloved. Noël will mark his first score. Speaking of the project, Wolf said: “I am so thrilled for my first film soundtrack composition to be about Noël Coward’s early life, we both grew up in the same parts of southwest London and began our journeys onto the stage and into writing at the same precocious age.”
Meanwhile, Wolf has begun work on his sixth studio album, recording in his new London studio, The Adyton. He has announced a handful of dates across the summer, where he will play completely solo, using an electric guitar, loop pedals, live sampling, drum synthesizer, viola and celtic harp.
He has also confirmed a Paris date in collaboration with Patti Smith. The gig will take place at the Cartier Foundation and will feature Smith and Wolf performing together, accompanied by only a double bass player.
Patrick Wolf will play:
Paris, The Cartier Foundation (July 10)
Cornwall, Knee Deep Festival (August 2)
Gothenburg, Nefertiti Jazzclub (September 1)
Bergen, Perfect Sounds Forever Festival (3)
Portmeirion, Festival No. 6 (5)
