The Beatles icon will sign copies of his new album at the shop on Friday (October 18)
Paul McCartney will appear at the newly-reopened HMV flagship store at 363 Oxford Street this Friday (October 18).
The singer will sign copies of his new album ‘New’ for fans at 3pm the central London shop, the same location The Beatles cut the demo disc that led to them meeting George Martin and subsequently signing to EMI in 1961.
Some 60 tickets guaranteeing access to the signing will be given away as competition prizes. Keep your eyes peeled on Paul McCartney’s website and HMV’s social media for more details. Other fans attending the signing will be admitted on a first come first served basis.
As part of the promotional campaign around the new HMV store, last week the retailer announced that records by The Beatles, Elvis Presley and New Order will be given away at the Oxford Street branch each day this week, starting with a special Beatles 7″ today (Monday 14).
Hilco chief executive and HMV chairman Paul McGowan recently explained how he plans to improve the flagging retailer following the administrator’s £50m takeover earlier this year.
In a blog for NME, McGowan outlines five major ways in which HMV will improve, singling out the quality of the stock in store, instore performances, HMV’s online presence, representing local scenes and trends as well as an increase in the number of Fopp stores around the UK. HMV recently returned to the Oxford Street flagship shop last month (September 28). The chain first opened at the site in 1921 and remained in the property until 2000 before relocating.
