Paul McCartney: ‘The last albums I bought were by Kanye West, The National and Jay-Z’

The former Beatle took part in his first ever live Twitter Q&A earlier today (October 3)

Paul McCartney has revealed that the last albums he bought were by Kanye West, The National, The Civil Wars and Jay-Z.

The former member of The Beatles took part in his first ever live Twitter Q&A earlier today (October 3) and was asked by a fan which records he had purchased recently. He wrote:

In the Q&A he was also asked which songs on his new record that he was proudest of. “I like ‘Early Day’s and the hidden track which is called ‘Scared’. But I like them all,” he said. He also explained why he called the album ‘New’. “I was playing around with more poetic titles but NEW was a simple word and the name of a song on the album,” he wrote.

Paul McCartney is also on the cover of this week’s NME, which is available digitally and on newsstands now. The former Beatles star will release ‘New’ on October 14. The full tracklisting of the album, which includes work with producers such as Mark Ronson and Paul Epworth, can be seen below. Speaking about his modern day equivalents in the magazine, McCartney says he thinks about working with Thom Yorke and Damon Albarn, stating that his family are keen for him to work with the former.

“My daughter Stella is very keen. She’s got a project, she keeps saying to me, ‘Ring Thom and just go into the studio and just see what you come out with.'” McCartney says. “I’m a bit sort of paranoid to just ring him up. ‘Hey Thom, it’s Paul here. What do you fancy, what are you doing? Do you fancy writing something?’ Just in case he says, ‘Er, actually I’m busy’.”
