Macca introduces screening of live film 'Rockshow'

Paul McCartney took the stage at Bafta in London last night (May 15) to introduce his new DVD of a live performance from Wings in 1976, Rockshow.

”This is a film of the ’76 concert that we did with Wings in America,” he said of the footage from the final show of the Wings Over The World tour, ”and I think the best thing about it for me was that we’d been struggling for years with Wings getting slagged off by all the reviewers because we decided to do it from the ground up again instead of coming in at some higher level as superstars.

”So we had to learn our craft all over again and we thought that by the time we reached 1976 and America on this tour that we were pretty good.”

The two-hour film, featuring Wings performing 30 songs taken from the Wings, The Beatles and Paul’s solo back catalogues and a cover of Bessie Banks’ ‘Go Now’ at the Kingdome in Seattle, is also scheduled for a theatrical release, screening in 500 cinemas across the world, and will then be released on DVD and Blu-ray in June. It is the first time the full concert has been released.
