Paul Weller is also releasing a new cover of The Beatles‘ ‘Birthday’ today to help celebrate the occasion. Scroll down to hear the track.

The Modfather has recorded a cover of the Fab Four’s 1968 track, which served as the opening track on the second disc of ‘The White Album’. All the proceeds go to War Child.

Speaking about the track, Weller said: “It’s my own little tribute to the man who, along with the rest of The Beatles, got me into music in the first place.”

Weller notched up his fourth solo Number One album earlier this year when his new LP, ‘Sonik Kicks’, entered the chart in the top position.

Despite only recently releasing his 11th solo studio LP, however, he is already eyeing up his next project – he recently told NME that he is planning on working with Miles Kane on new material. “We’ve set aside a couple of dates when I’m going to do some writing with him,” he said. “I like him, he’s done well.”
