Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills’ divorce settlement could go public

A decision will be made about the fortune next month

The details of the divorce deal between ex-Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills may be made public next month, when they are set to be decided.

Mr Justice Bennett, who is presiding over the case, will decide on the allocation of McCartney’s fortune on March 17, after the pair failed to agree on a settlement.

Previously the details of the case were set to be undisclosed to the public, but the judge decided that because of the level of public interest in the case he may decide to reveal the details of the deal when it is set.

A spokesperson for the Judicial Communications Office told PA: “The judge will hand down his judgment in private on March 17 2008. He will then decide, having heard submissions from the parties, whether or not to make the judgment public in whole or in part.”
