Paul McCartney and his bride-to-be HEATHER MILLS thanked the public for their good wishes during a brief photocall in front of the Irish castle where tomorrow (June 11) they will be married.
The pair drove to the gates of the 1,000 acre Castle Leslie estate in Glasnough, County Monaghan this afternoon to greet the press and well-wishers.
Paul McCartney said: “I would just like to thank all the people who have written in to us and people we have met on the streets who have wished us all the best.”
Asked if he was excited about the wedding, Paul McCartney smiled and said “Just a bit, yeah.”
He added: “My mother was born in Monaghan, that’s the main reason why we’re here.”
There has been huge media interest in the wedding, with a ring of steel thrown round the 17th century estate to keep out prying eyes. Paul McCartney and Mills have turned down a £1.5million offer for picture rights to the event. Instead, they will issue one photograph to the media which will have to be paid for – with the money going to charity.
