The success of albums by Paul Oakenfold and Sasha means the Newcastle-based label will branch out into Manhattan...
The independent label, which has also released compilations under the Nu Breed moniker by up-and-coming DJs like Steve Lawler, Danny Howells and Sander Kleinenberg, has sold over 150,000 copies of Paul Oakenfold‘s Global Underground: New York album, as well as over 100,000 copies of Sasha‘s Global Underground: Ibiza in the US over the last year.
A spokesperson for the label revealed that the ever-increasing demand for UK dance music in the States means that the country now accounts for over two-thirds of the label’s sales.
The Global Underground New York office will open in the next month on Ninth Avenue in Manhattan, and will be closely followed by offices in Los Angeles and Melbourne. The label will release compilations mixed by Darren Emerson and Seb Fontaine in the coming months.
