Paul Weller slams Facebook, MySpace

'Why not go down the pub' instead, says the Modfather

Paul Weller has criticised people who “spend all evening” on Facebook and MySpace.

The former Jam singer told the Independent that although he enjoys using modern technology to record songs, social networking sites are “bullshit”.

“Why not go down the pub? A guy once came up to me at a gig and asked me if I had MySpace. I said, ‘This is my space, and you’re invading it’,” he said.

The Modfather also once again discussed Oasis’ split, claiming Liam and Noel Gallagher were “going through the motions” before the band ended last year.

“I don’t want to talk out of turn because I love Noel and Liam,” he said. “You can see when someone’s not happy. But I guess when you get to that sort of level and there’s big business involved, it’s harder to stop. I think ultimately it’ll be better for music and for their own creativity.”

Weller joined Noel Gallagher onstage at the former Oasis leader’s gig at London’s Relentless Garage last week (April 21).
