After Liam Gallagher kicked things off by sharing his favourite music for the first ever issue of NME Gold, now The Jam, Style Council and solo hero takes to the pages – picking historic articles about his favourite artists from the archives of NME.
From The Beatles to John Coltrane, Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield and Noel Gallagher, Weller shares his thoughts on his chosen artists to reveal how they made him the artist he is today.
Not only that, but there’s also a new in-depth interview in the run-up to his 60th birthday to explore his own musical journey.
“When I was young, the NME was like by Bible, really,” Weller told NME Gold. “That would be the word.”
He continued: “Obviously there are good things about the internet, you can find bands and artists and go straight to their music, which is great, but because there’s so many people doing it, you still need someone to give you that knowledge, and that curation.
“That’s what music magazines are good for. Hopefully this one will be as well.”
