Pavement are set to tour the UK in October and release a single, ‘Major Leagues’ on October 4 through Domino.
The single features the band’s original drummer, Gary Young, playing on the B-sides. Young was famous for handing out toast to the audience at gigs and left the band in 1993.
He joins the band again to play on ‘Stub Your Toe’ and ‘No Time To Change’.
The single will also be backed with original demos of ‘Major Leagues’ and ‘Decouvert de Soleil’ and two cover versions.
These will be renditions of ‘The Killing Moon’ by Echo And The Bunnymen and ‘The Classical’ by The Fall.
Ian McCulloch recently described Pavement’s version of his song as “topski”.
The tour dates are: Liverpool Royal Court (October 28) Glasgow Barrowlands (November 18) Manchester Academy (19) London Brixton Acadamy (20) Dublin Olympia (21)
