Pearl Jam are to release every show from their imminent US tour as a series of live albums via the Internet.
As reported on nme.com in June, Pearl Jam decided to wage war on professional bootleggers by releasing each show on their recent European tour as a separate live album, sold via the Internet.
Each show is a double-CD compilation with its own unique packaging, and sold via the Pearl Jam websites www.tenclub.net.
Now, according to a statement on the official Pearl Jam website ([a][/a]), both legs of the band’s US ‘Binaural’ tour will be released in addition to the European dates so fans don’t have to pay “$40-50 for a single show… for some low quality, high-priced bootlegger bootlegs”.
Pearl Jam’s tour, with support from Supergrass, calls at: Montreal Molson Centre (October 4) Toronto Air Canada Centre (5) Detroit The Palace (7) Milwaukee Alpine Valley (8) Chicago Allstate Arena (9) St Louis Riverport Amphitheatre (11) Kansas City Sandstone Amphitheatre (12) Houston Woodlands Pavilion (14, 15) Dallas Starplex Amphitheatre (17) Lubbock United Spirit Arena (18) Albuquerque Mesa Del Sol (20) Phoenix Desert Sky Pavilion (21) Las Vegas MGM (22) San Diego Sports Arena (25) Fresno Selland Arena (27) San Bernardino Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion (28) Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre (30) San Francisco Shoreline Amphitheatre (31) Portland Rose Garden (November 2) Boise Idaho Centre (3) Seattle Key Arena Benefit Show (Support to be announced) (5,6)
No release date for the albums have yet been set, but it is expected that the releases will not be available before Christmas.
In other Pearl Jam news, the band are not planning to release any further singles from their ‘Binaural’ album, and will instead begin working on a new album for release next year.
