Cornell passed away last May 17. He was found dead in his hotel room shortly after performing with Soundgarden in Detroit. He was 52. Previously, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready paid tribute to the singer, who he had performed with extensively throughout his life.
Last night at their headline performance in Chile, Pearl Jam dedicated a sombre performance of ‘Come Back’ to the late icon. “This is for Chris,” announced Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder ahead of the rendition.

Elsewhere in the show, they also made the live debut of new single ‘Can’t Deny Me’, dedicating it to the Parkland students who have been campaigning for gun control since the fatal Florida shooting last month.
Speaking in Spanish, he commended “the incredible students in Florida, and the United States, who survived a terrible tragedy. We will all be protesting tomorrow throughout the United States,” he said, referencing the walkout protests in protest of gun violence across the US. “We support you all, and Emma Gonzalez, we love you. We’d like to play this for them, and us.”
