Pearl Jam released their own limited edition red wine, which sold out in a record-breaking 12 minutes.
The 450-box run wine was announced via the band’s newsletter and was snapped up by eager fans before most had even heard about it.
Each box was priced at $150 and contained four bottles. The bottles came branded with a Pearl Jam graphic that depicted a prominent building from the skylines of Seattle, Chicago, Boston, and Missoula, Montana – the four destinations on Pearl Jam’s upcoming Home X Away tour. You can see the boxed wine below.
The wine is a Syrah/Cabernet blend and was created by the Underground Wine Project, a collaboration of Mark Ryan Winery’s Mark McNeilly and Sleight of Hand Cellars’ Trey Busch.
Proceeds from the limited edition win went to Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy Foundation, which offers funds to nonprofits helping community health, the environment and its local arts and culture scenes. The wine raised a total of $67,500.
Earlier this month, the giant Donald Trump balloon made an appearance outside Pearl Jam‘s gig in London.
Pearl Jam gave their blessing for the balloon to be stationed outside The O2 during their show, with frontman Eddie Vedder later addressing Trump’s presidency, the balloon and the protests against Trump during the gig.
“[Trump’s] actually bringing people together in a great way,” Vedder said about the protests in London. “When you get 250,000 protestors of all ages, cultures, different sexual orientations… you know, maybe he’s uniting people in a way that could be needed in the near future.”
