Pet Shop Boys announce new album ‘Elysium’

Electro veterans also post new song online – watch

Pet Shop Boys have announced plans to release a new album in September.

The LP – titled ‘Elysium’ – was produced by Andrew Dawson, who has previously worked with Kanye West. He told

They’ve [Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe] never done a record in Los Angeles before. They wanted to be around that thing, and get that classic LA sound – the LA players and all that stuff.

As a taster the electro duo have unveiled a video for album track ‘Invisible’ which you can watch below. It was directed by Los Angeles artist/film-maker Brian Bress.

The track features the lyrics “Look at me, the absentee, disappearing finally/Goodbye /Is it magic or the truth?/Strange psychology or justified by the end of youth” which Tennant sings over a lush synth ballad.

The LP is Pet Shop Boys’ 11th studio effort and follows their 2009 album ‘Yes’. The band released a B-sides collection ‘Format’ earlier this year. The double album, made up of 38 tracks, features the duo’s single releases from 1996 to 2009.

It followed the duo’s last B-sides release, ‘Alternative’, which came out in 1995 and featured B-sides from 1985 to 1994.
