Pete Doherty chastises ‘evil twin’ created by the media

He says the media have invented a 'filthy' version of him

Pete Doherty has criticised the media for inventing an “evil” version of him.

In a TV interview with ITV‘s ‘London Tonight’ news programme yesterday (March 20), the Babyshambles man said he doesn’t think he is represented fairly by the press.

“I don’t really see it as me in a way,” he said. “It’s like this media creation.”

Doherty went on to reveal that he calls the version of him that appears in newspapers “evil” and not a real portrayal.

“I call him my evil twin, this fella they’ve [the media] created. He looks a little bit like me, apart from he’s filthy and he’s always pulling a weird expression, or doing something violent or illegal.”

However, Doherty then revealed that he does understand why people are fascinated by the media ‘character’, even admitting that he’s interested in the creation himself.

“I’d like to meet him…actually I dunno if I would like to meet him. Maybe, just briefly. Can you arrange it?!”

Doherty is currently on a UK tour in support of his recently released solo album ‘Grace/Wastelands’.
