The Libertines man also says he's been offered a part as a 'rentboy/crackhead' in a new film
The clip is taken from the forthcoming new TV series Hernu ‘N Harris: Unhinged, the full episode of which will be broadcast on August 2 on Sky Controversial at 9pm (BST).
The Doherty interview and impromptu performance of the soul classic was recorded in London just before The Libertines man left the UK for rehab in Thailand. Yesterday (July 17), he was asked to leave the facility, as he was considered to be a ‘disruptive influence’ on other patients.
In the clip from the show, which is hosted by journalist Piers Hernu and DJ Steve Harris, Doherty also speaks about his current life in Paris and says that more film work has been offered to him, despite the fact that his acting debut in Confession of a Child of the Century was given scathing reviews by critics when it premiered at Cannes earlier this year. “I’ve been offered another part… rentboy/crackhead,” says Doherty. “The script’s beautiful, but it’s in French, so they’ve given me a year to learn French and get a six-pack.”
He adds that he’s going to be writing and recording new music in London, but then says he’s “going to rehab for a little spell”. Doherty was attending the facility for heroin and crack cocaine addiction, but workers at The Cabin in Chiang Mai asked him to leave after less than three weeks.
