Singer's eye-catching headgear is up for sale
Pharrell Williams is auctioning off the much-discussed hat he wore at this year’s Grammy Awards.
As the BBC reports, the singer has listed the item for sale on eBay. The unusual headgear, which is referred to as “Pharrell Williams’ mountain hat” in the advertisement, attracted a bid of $10,500 (£6,301) within 24 hours of being made available for online auction.
Tweeting about the interest in the hat, Williams said: “We started my hat auction at $200 (the price I paid for it) and it’s already up to over 10K?” Profits from the sale will go towards his charity From One Hand To Another, which raises funds for young people living in at risk communities in the US.
Earlier this week, Pharrell announced details of his new album ‘G I R L’, due for release on March 3. The LP is his first solo effort since 2006’s ‘In My Mind’ and will feature the producer and performer’s Number One single ‘Happy’. A video promoting the album, in which Pharrell is seen recording the LP and shedding a tear, can be seen above.
Speaking earlier this year, Pharrell revealed he wants to reunite the Gallagher brothers for a collaboration. The singer said he wants to bring the estranged siblings back together and work with them.
“Who wouldn’t want to work with the Gallaghers? Yeah, both of them,” Pharrell said. Williams also said that he wants to work with Elton John. “I really respect Elton John’s music and I’d love to do something with him,” said Williams, who named his son Rocket after the singer’s 1972 hit ‘Rocket Man’.
