Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ finishes 2013 top of Official UK Singles Chart

Meanwhile, Robbie Williams ‘Swings Both Ways’ remains top of Official Albums Chart

Pharrell Williams will be celebrating a triumphant 2013 with his new single ‘Happy’ topping the Official UK Singles Chart.

The US singer/producer’s latest track, which is taken from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, has knocked X Factor winner Sam Bailey’s ‘Skyscraper’ (2), which was the Christmas Number One, off the top spot after just one week, reports the Official Charts Company.

Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ is at Number Three, Jason Derulo’s ‘Trumpets’ is at Number Four and Eminem & Rihanna’s ‘The Monster’ completes this week’s Official Singles Chart Top 5.

In the Official UK Albums Chart, Robbie Williams holds on to the Number One spot for another week. His album, ‘Swings Both Ways’, was last week’s Christmas Number One and has once again kept his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow’s solo album, ‘Since I Saw You Last’, at Number Two.

One Direction’s ‘Midnight Memories’ is at Number Three, Beyonce’s self-titled album is at Number Four and Olly Murs’ ‘Right Place Right Time’ completes this week’s Official UK Album Chart Top 5.

There are six re-entries into the Top 40 this week, including Emeli Sande’s, ‘Our Version Of Events’, which climbs twelve places to 31; The 1975’s self-titled debut album is up 21 places to Number 32; Lorde’s ‘Pure Heroine’ is up 19 to 33; Rudimental’s ‘Home’ is at Number 34; Calvin Harris’ ‘18 Months’ is at Number 38 and Haim’s ‘Days Are Gone’ is at Number 40.
