Pharrell's Daft Punk collaboration 'Get Lucky' has also crossed the million sales mark
‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke featuring TI and Pharrell Williams has become the second single released in 2013 to sell over a million copies in the UK.
“I’m humbled by all of the love the UK fans have shown. But, when you are working with incredible talent like The Robots and Robin, great things are bound to happen,” Pharrell told OfficialCharts.com upon hearing of his latest success.
‘Get Lucky’ and ‘Blurred Lines’ are the 136th and 137th singles to shift a million in the 60-year history of the UK Singles Chart. Martin Talbot, chief executive of the Official Charts Company, said: “It is a further sign of the strength of the UK singles market that ‘Blurred Lines’ is the second track released this year to pass the million mark.”
“Great credit not only to Robin Thicke and TI, but to Pharrell Williams too, who becomes a double millionaire in the space of just a month,” Talbot added. “Through ‘Blurred Lines’ and ‘Get Lucky’, Pharrell has sold two million singles in just about 16 weeks. Impressive work!”
‘Blurred Lines’ returned to Number One on Sunday (July 14) after two weeks off the top spot. Robin Thicke’s album, also called ‘Blurred Lines’, came out on Monday (July 15) and is now battling Pet Shop Boys’ latest LP ‘Electric’ for the Number One spot on Sunday’s UK Albums Chart.
