Pharrell Williams shares new single ‘Freedom’ – listen

The song was premiered by Zane Lowe on his new Beats 1 radio show

Pharrell Williams has unveiled his new single ‘Freedom’.

‘Freedom’ was premiered by Zane Lowe on his new Beats 1 radio show, marking new streaming service Apple Music’s launch. A preview of the song previously soundtracked an advert for the product.

The track follows on Williams’ 2014 album ‘GIRL’ and recent mega-hit ‘Happy’.

A video for the track is available as an Apple Music exclusive, with an audio stream available below via BBC Radio 1.

Pharrell Williams has also suggested that he has collaborated with Adele, but stated that her responsibilities as a new mother made their time together brief.

The British singer gave birth to her first child, Angelo, in October 2012. She is thought to be working on her third album.

Speaking during a talk at the Cannes Lions festival, Pharrell said: “I’ve seen her recently. She’s kinda like, ‘Okay, guys, I’m gonna open my diary for 20 minutes’. So it’s like, okay, you have 20 minutes, or 32 minutes really”.

“Then she gives it to you and closes it up and disappears, and she’s off with her beautiful boy – and that’s what it’s all about.”

As The Mirror reports, Williams then added: “She is a masterful writer. You listen to her albums and the intention is living and breathes.”
