Phoenix working on sixth album

The band released their last LP 'Bankrupt!' in April 2013

Phoenix are currently working on their next album.

The band revealed that they have started on the follow-up to last year’s ‘Bankrupt!’ in an interview with Rolling Stone. Frontman Thomas Mars said it was still early days for the project however, commenting: “It’s the beginning of something – the base of the pyramid. Right now, it could go anywhere. It’s this moment of pure freedom. The possibilities are endless. It’s very exciting.”

He explained that the band are working on the record in-between live dates, saying: “The way we tour is pretty unique. We go for two weeks, then we stop for two or three weeks. And when we’re back, we don’t really know how to take vacations, so we usually spend time on the record.”

Phoenix are set to play an NME Awards Show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on February 5. They will also headline the Heineken Open’er Festival, joining previously announced headliners The Black Keys and Pearl Jam at the yearly event, which takes place in Gdynia, Poland from July 2-5.
