Phoenix announce February 2014 UK tour

The French rockers will play three dates on the stretch

Phoenix have announced details of a UK tour for February 2014.

The French rockers will play Glasgow, Manchester and London on the stretch, in support of their fifth album ‘Bankrupt!’, which was released in April this year (2013).

In September, the band were forced to cancel their appearance at London’s iTunes festival, after frontman Thomas Mars fell ill. They have since finished up a US tour with The Vaccines in support and are about to embark on a European tour with Haim.

Pheonix will play:

Glasgow Barrowland (February 10)
Manchester Academy (11)
London O2 Academy Brixton (12)

The band last month revealed their new remix of their track ‘Trying To Be Cool’, featuring R Kelly on vocals. The original version of the song appears on ‘Bankrupt’. Scroll down to hear the remix now.

The unlikely collaborators first joined forces earlier this year when R Kelly performed with the band during their headline set at California’s Coachella festival. Guitarist Christian Mazzalai explained the background to the collaboration, saying: “Before going onstage we always put on R Kelly’s music, which is very far from our music, but we love his art. So we created a mash-up between our music and his music. We sent it to him and he said yes. The funny part is he arrived late so we didn’t see him before. We met him onstage. We didn’t rehearse so there was a beautiful tension.”
