But the big names are notable by their absence from the London ceremony...

SPICE GIRL MEL B and DREEM TEEM lynchpin DJ SPOONY hosted the UK GARAGE AWARDS 2001 last night (September 27) at LONDON’s BRIXTON ACADEMY.

So Solid Crew, Mis-Teeq and Wookie were amongst the better known names to scoop gongs. The ceremony focused, though, on acts breaking through the UK garage underground with names such as MC Viper and Miss Dynamite honoured. Established garage acts Oxide & Neutrino, Artful Dodger and Craig David were notable by their absence from nominations and the ceremony itself.

Amongs those who performed during the three hour and at times shambolic ceremony were DJ Pied Piper And The Master of Ceremonies with their chart-topping hit ‘Do U Really Like It?’.
