Pixies launch fan artwork competition

The band will release their first studio album in 23 years, 'Indie Cindy', on April 28

Pixies have launched a competition for fans to design the artwork for their new album.

Last week, the band announced details of ‘Indie Cindy’, their first new album in 23 years, which will be released on April 28.

To mark the album’s release, the band have launched a competition for fans to design a sleeve for the LP, which will be used as a limited-edition lithograph print that will be offered as a bonus item with the purchase of the band’s new album at independent record shops. A $500 (£300) cash prize is also being offered.

To enter, the design must be Pixies-inspired, measuring 11” X 17” (279mm x 432mm) that uses Pixies logos and the ‘Indie Cindy’ album title. “Everything else can be a product of the artist’s creativity and ingenuity,” a statement reads.
Entries will be judged by the band and Vaughan Oliver, who has designed all Pixies artwork over the band’s career

‘Indie Cindy’ comprises of the EPs, ‘EP1’ and ‘EP2’, released in September 2013 and January 2014 respectively, plus ‘EP3’. ‘Indie Cindy’ marks the first time all three releases have been available as one collection.

Pixies – which currently consist of Francis, Joey Santiago, David Lovering, and touring bassist Paz Lenchantin – have recently finished up the North American leg of their 2013-2014 world tour. The band heads to South America before a string of festival dates this summer, including a headline slot at Manchester’s Summer In The City and London’s Field Day.
