Veterans will now play nine shows in support of new album ‘Head Carrier’
Pixies have added three more gigs to their winter tour in support of new album ‘Head Carrier’.
The three new shows at the end of the tour are in London, Birmingham and Cardiff. It means the band will play three shows at Brixton O2 Academy.
Pixies previewed several songs from ‘Head Carrier’ including lead single ‘Um Chagga Lagga’ when they played a one-off Brixton gig in July.
Frank Black revealed in July that ‘Head Carrier’ features a song about former bassist Kim Deal, sung by new bassist Paz Lenchantin. Black told 6 Music that ‘All I Think About Now’ is “a thank-you letter” to Deal.
Deal left in 2013, shortly before new album ‘Indie Cindy’. She was replaced by The Muffs singer Kim Shattuck, who was replaced by Lenchantin for touring of the album.
‘Head Carrier’, out on September 30, was made with Royal Blood producer Tom Dalgety. Black compared the album to 1989’s ‘Doolittle’, saying: “It’s got a bit of early Pixies slosh in it.”
Pixies will play:
Brixton O2 Academy (November 28-29, December 6)
Leeds O2 Academy (30)
Glasgow Barrowland (December 2)
Newcastle O2 Academy (3)
Manchester O2 Apollo (4)
Cardiff Motorpoint Arena (7)
Birmingham O2 Academy (8)
