Pixies: ‘reunion shows are more about the money now’

Frontman admits that 'it ain't about the art anymore'

PixiesBlack Francis has revealed that the he would like to play more reunion shows but only if “its going to earn us a fair wage”.

Talking to The Quietus, the frontman explained that it “ain’t about the art anymore”.

“We’re interested in anything that’s going to earn us a fair wage,” he admitted. “It’s not to say it’s not about art, but we made that art fucking 20 years ago. So forget the fucking goddamn art. This ain’t about the art anymore. I did the arty farty part. Now it’s time to talk about the money.”


About to embark on a tour of Australia and New Zealand next month, Francis revealed that he’d like head back into the studio to work on new material with the group, but the prospect of it happening wasn’t promising.

“Of course I would,” he explained. “Do I seem like I’ve said anything in the past different? The more I talk about it with guys like you the less likely it is to happen.”
