The band, who formed in 1986, released ‘Surfer Rosa’ in 1988. A year before that, they put out ‘Come On Pilgrim’, an eight-track mini-LP that featured songs from their demo tape.
Now, both records will be released under the title ‘Come On Pilgrim… Surfer Rosa’ to mark the anniversary. The box set will also include ‘Live From The Fallout Shelter’ – a live recording that was originally broadcast on WJUL-FM radio station in 1986.
The release will come as a triple-vinyl or triple-CD set, while a limited deluxe edition on clear vinyl will also be available. The latter will come with a clothbound, hardback book featuring lyrics and artwork. The standard editions will be released on September 28 via 4AD and the deluxe edition will follow in November.
The band are also set to commemorate the albums with a series of special anniversary shows in London. From October 30, they will perform a five-night run at London’s Roundhouse where they will play both ‘Come On Pilgrim’ and ‘Surfer Rosa’ from start to finish. The dates are already sold out.
Pixies are currently on tour in the US with Weezer. They released their sixth album ‘Head Carrier’ in 2016.
