PJ Harvey confirmed for Glastonbury Festival 2016

Singer joins Coldplay at this year's Worthy Farm event

PJ Harvey will play at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, confirmed by festival organiser Emily Eavis at last night’s NME Awards 2016, with Austin, Texas.

With Coldplay, who performed on the night and received the Godlike Genius Award, already announced to headline this summer, Eavis has now confirmed to BBC Radio 6 Music that PJ Harvey will appear also. Her last Glastonbury performance was in 2004.

“It’s been a long time and she’s a local girl,” Eavis told 6 Music’s music news presenter, Matt Everitt. “She’s amazing and always delivers an incredible show so we’re really really exciting for that”.

PJ Harvey’s upcoming new album ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’ will be released on April 15. ‘Let England Shake’, her last studio album, was released in 2011. She has also confirmed a number of other festival dates for 2016, including Field Day in London and Barcelona’s Primavera.

Glastonbury 2016 will take place at Worthy Farm over the week of June 22-26. The likes of Muse and Adele have been rumoured to headline this year’s festival alongside Coldplay.
