PJ Harvey announces two European festival dates for this summer

Harvey will headline Way Out West and Oya following release of new album

PJ Harvey has announced plans for two more European festival dates this summer.

It has been confirmed that Harvey, who is due to release her new album in spring, will headline Oya in Norway and Sweden’s Way Out West.

Sia will also headline Way Out West, which takes place on the weekend of August 11-13 in Gothenburg. Joining headliners PJ Harvey and Sia on the line-up of the Swedish event will be Chvrches, Jamie xx, Stormzy, M83 and Anna Von Hauswolff.

Oslo’s Oya Festival takes place on the same weekend and will see Harvey headline a bill which also includes Foals, Lush, Chvrches, Jamie xx, Stormzy and M83.

PJ Harvey previously confirmed that she will headline Open’er in Poland, Roskilde in Denmark and London’s Field Day later this year.

The news of Harvey’s ninth studio record was announced in December alongside a clip of the musician performing a short preview of one heavy-riff based song.

The as-yet-untitled album was created during Harvey and Murphy’s travels between 2011-2014 to destinations including Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, DC. The Hollow Of The Hand, a book of Harvey’s poetry from the same trip, was published earlier this year.

The album was recorded at London’s Somerset House earlier this year during open recording sessions which the public could attend.

Harvey and Murphy also staged a multimedia show in London in October where ten new songs were performed alongside poems, photos and short films from Murphy.

‘Let England Shake’, PJ Harvey’s last studio album, was released in 2011. She has also confirmed a number of festival dates for 2016, including Field Day in London.
